At Marchwood Senior School, academic excellence and a spirit of competition are pillars of our student body. This year, we are incredibly proud to announce that two of our top students, Ebrahim Patel (age 13) and Makomborero Bere (age 14), have qualified to represent our school in the prestigious Zimbabwe National Spelling Bee 2024. Their journey to nationals is a testament to their hard work, dedication, and passion for learning.
Ebrahim Patel, a bright and energetic 13-year-old, has already made a name for himself as a fierce competitor in previous school competitions. Known for his sharp intellect and quick thinking, Ebrahim exudes confidence as he prepares for the national stage. His message to his peers and competitors is clear: "Nationals... I’m coming for you." Ebrahim’s determination and disciplined study habits have earned him this incredible opportunity, and we have no doubt that he will shine at the event.
Makomborero Bere, affectionately known by his friends as "Professor," is another of our star spellers. At 14 years old, Makomborero brings a unique flair to the competition, always displaying calmness under pressure and an impressive ability to tackle even the most challenging words. His confidence is echoed in his personal motto: "They don’t call me professor for nothing." Makomborero's meticulous preparation and deep love for language make him a strong contender in the national competition.
Both students are members of Marchwood Senior School’s thriving academic community, where we encourage students to aim for excellence, not only in the classroom but also in competitive arenas. The National Spelling Bee competition is an exciting opportunity for Ebrahim and Makomborero to demonstrate the skills and knowledge they’ve cultivated here at school.
Their participation is not just a personal achievement but a proud moment for our entire school community. Teachers, students, and parents alike are rallying behind them, offering support, encouragement, and well wishes. Marchwood Senior School has a history of academic success, and this year’s Spelling Bee is another chance to showcase the incredible talent fostered within our walls.
As the date for the national competition approaches, both Ebrahim and Makomborero are rigorously preparing by reviewing advanced vocabulary lists, practicing spelling drills, and developing strategies for staying calm under the pressure of the competition. We are confident that their hard work will pay off as they stand on the national stage.
To Ebrahim and Makomborero, we are immensely proud of your accomplishments and the way you represent Marchwood Senior School. The entire school community will be cheering for you at the nationals. Best of luck – we know you’ll make us proud!
